Freeport is a marvelous seaside community just south of Galveston Island and north of Matagorda Bay. The area is filled with extraordinary beachfront homes and condos only steps from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. If you are planning a vacation to the south Texas coast, consider Freeport for your stay. You will find commendations for rent there provide greater value at a cheaper nightly rate than competitive rentals in Galveston or Corpus Christi.
There are two main areas for vacation rentals in the Freeport area. One is in downtown Freeport, on the Brazos River, and the other is at Surfside Beach on the coast. Downtown Freeport is only a couple of blocks inland from the ocean.
Vacation rentals in downtown Freeport are between Highway 288 to the south, Nolan Ryan Expressway to the west, North Gulf Boulevard and Surfside Road to the north, and Pine Street to the east. The streets in this area are numbered, starting with 2nd Street up to 12th Street. The north-south streets are named after trees mostly. South Velasco Boulevard runs north and south directly through downtown Freeport and crosses the river to the north. There is another section of homes and residences between North Front Street and Dow Barge Canal.
The second primary grouping of homes is in Surfside Beach, just east of Freeport and closer to the water. Surfside Beach is located on a sandbar only steps from the water. The downtown area runs from Parkview Road to Starfish Street and Highway 332. Highway 257 extends further east from Francis Cove Avenue to Bay Avenue along Bluewater Highway. Bluewater Highway continues northeast to Galveston Island, but there are a few homes for rent between Bay Avenue and the outskirts of Galveston Island. Swan Lake is just north of Highway 257, as is Freshwater Lake and Oyster Creek.
Types of Vacation Rentals
Vacation rentals in these areas come in all shapes and sizes. In downtown Freeport, most of the vacation rentals are traditional single-family homes. In Surfside Beach, there are several homes, townhomes, duplexes, laughs, villas, bungalows, and beach houses. Many are very close to the ocean and have patios or decks with water views. Several condo villas are right on the bay and have beach front access and a pool. Condos can typically accommodate up to five guests, while private homes are more prominent and can accommodate 10 or more vacationers with these.
Homes and condos for rent are chockful of amenities like air conditioning, Internet or Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, a full kitchen, a garden or backyard, fireplace, hot tub, and possibly pool access. Private homes usually have a garage or private parking available, and most condos come with an assigned parking spot or a parking pass.
Beach rentals are very popular with families that have children. It’s easy to go back and forth from the house to the beach all day long. You can go out in the morning and play on the beach when the weather is nice, then go back to your accommodations for a nice lunch, then return in the afternoon for more fun in the sun. It’s ideal for an evening stroll along the beach or late-night romantic walks with that special someone. Don’t fight crowds at public beaches where they can be hundreds of people. Some of our properties are near secluded or private beaches with a few people.
The best way to maximize your value and overall experience on your Texas vacation is to consider a vacation rental over a traditional hotel. Why pay exorbitant prices for a single room when you can have access to an entire home that has a full kitchen, room to stretch it out, and no noisy neighbors. A private home or condo is also a perfect place to get the entire family around the dinner table for a memorable meal or a night of board games. When it’s time to hit the town, you are not far from the ocean and all the excitement in Galveston in Corpus Christi. Both are only a short Uber ride away.
